Privacy Policy for Tab Master Control

Effective Date: [2026-02-17]

Tab Master Control ("the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy outlines how the Extension handles data and utilizes browser permissions.

1. Data Collection & Transmission Tab Master Control operates 100% locally on your device. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any Personally Identifiable Information (PII), browsing history, web activity, passwords, or analytics data. We do not use third-party servers, APIs, or trackers.

2. How We Use Permissions To provide precise tab management features, the Extension requires specific permissions:

  • tabs: Used strictly to read the ID and position (index) of your current tabs so the Extension can move newly created tabs to your preferred location (e.g., exactly to the left or right) and to manage focus when a tab is closed. We do not read the content of the pages you visit using this API.

  • <all_urls> (Host Permission): Used strictly to inject a lightweight script (content.js) that listens for link clicks. This allows the Extension to override the browser's default click behavior (e.g., forcing a link to open in the background). The script operates instantly in your browser's memory and does not scrape or record page content.

  • storage: Used solely to save your customized settings (like your preferred new tab location or custom new tab URL) securely to your local hard drive (chrome.storage.local).

3. Third-Party Links The Extension allows you to set a custom "New Tab" URL. If you choose to set this to a third-party website, opening a new tab will redirect you to that site, which operates under its own privacy policy.

4. Changes to This Policy If we update our permissions or features, we will update this policy accordingly. Since we collect no user data, no user data will ever be retroactively compromised.

5. Contact If you have any questions regarding this privacy policy, please contact the developer via the Chrome Web Store support tab.
